Las Vegas – SEMA 2015 – Automotive Week 2015

The SEMA Show, we were told, is pretty much the biggest automotive specialty products trade event in the world. This year like others, it apparently drew the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to the Las Vegas Convention Center. As part of the AAIW, the SEMA Show attracts more than 100,000 industry leaders from more than 100 countries, all searching for profit opportunities in the automotive, truck and SUV, powersports, and RV markets. SEMA Show drew big numbers of both domestic and international buyers. The displays were segmented into twelve sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 2,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA Show provided attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations and special events. Delegates were reminded frequently that being there would put them “ahead of the curve”… So that explains some of the curvy-type people manning the booths… #sema2015

Las Vegas: SupplySideWest 2012 SSW2012

Nov. 7-9, 2012:   A few pictures from this years Supply Side West in Las Vegas.  “SupplySide West is the world’s largest expo gathering ingredient suppliers and finished product manufacturers.” – from the SSW website. From bottle grass  to add healthy ruffage to the diet to various blends of Greek yogurt – all promising a longer and healthier life. Most interesting to us was the agave based insulin – an alternative to what is more common for diabetics forced to use insulin. About 70% of the vendors were “GMO” free – even the industrial giant Cargill is jumping on that bandwagon. Did you know that non-organic corn has a predisposed pesticide inside called “round up ready” known to cause anal leakage, thus so many pictures of the “Behinds of the Booth.

Vegas: G2E 2012 – Global Gaming #G2E2012

In continuing the trend from 2010 forward, G2E – the annual event that is every thing gambling was earlier this month, held at the Sands Convention Center. So many blinging lights – so little time. But if ever there was an industry that is better off in 2012 than in 2008 – it’s the gaming industry. There was a great social media seminar and always get good takeaway information. Thanks to Masterminds for sponsoring the tweet up.

Our biggest take-away was the implementation of hand held devices in the casino experience. Sports books are the 1st to take on online gaming but in the next 3-5 years (or sooner) slot machines will be replaced by the nextGen ipad (or tablet equivalent)

WMS gaming introduced a number of new pop culture centered slot machines including the KISS brand lead by the Demon & StarChild, Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley (who looked amazingly good for having lost his mom 2 days before the ribbon cutting, may she RIP) Kiss nation was out in force or at least hired models dressed as KISS were.

Automatic bingo is the next big floor game. No longer requiring a huge room with blue hair’d grammas hoping to hit it big on the 16 card sheets in front of them, an electronic version will be rolled out to casino floors very soon. Where will they put all the trolls & charms.

Hopefully once the G2E contract is up, they will move out of the Sands and into either Mandalay or Caesars which is much more trade show friendly.

Las Vegas: ISC West (International Security Conference)

Once you see all those black-and-yellow keyhole logos scattered around the convention center, you know you’re at a Security Industry event. ISC West is the International Security Conference and Exposition, and they’re there to remind you that you have plenty of stuff you want locked away and kept safe. There was much to learn about how to do that. There was a Security Cloud Computing panel, a discussion about how physical security applications can reduce cost and create value by leveraging the internet Cloud. Other panels explored novel techniques like video analytics, biometric technology and Personal Emergency Response Systems. Feeling secure now? You earned some out-of-town fun, like the scenic motorcycle and sports-car ride through the Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam area, raising funds for volunteer groups and publicly paid first-responders who take courses on safety-related issues. Stay safe, now, y’hear?

Las Vegas: GlobalShop

“GlobalShop is “”The Retail Solutions Event””, and the main things being retailed to these delegates were “”inspiration, innovation and insights””. GlobalShop is supposed to be the largest store design and retail marketing show in the United States. It is the place where retailers and brand marketers can shop for over 10,000 products and visit more than 900 suppliers in one location. The conference program offered 24 sessions led by top retail experts, who provided insight, advice and best practice information on how to create sustainable brands at retail that resonate with consumers. Big topics took in subjects like Lessons of the Recession; Shopper Marketing — a Revolution in Need of an Objective; From Research to Reality — Turning Shopper Insights into Successful Store Design; and Reimagining the Retail Store — The Shopper’s Experience. Sounds like retailers mainly needed to hone their listening skills…

Las Vegas: Misc. Pictures from around the Shot Show

I was amused to see Steven Segal running a muck. and actually he was schilling himself looking for gigs. Ponch, however, was a very sweet nice guy very happy that people actually remember him.

Las Vegas: The Shot Show 2011 (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show 2011) Part 1

No, it’s not about ‘shots’ of tequila or Jack Daniels. The shots at issue here are the kind you squeeze off during hunting trips. The Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference (or SHOT Show) claims to be the largest and most comprehensive trade show for professionals involved with shooting sports and hunting industries. It pitches itself as “the world’s premier exposition of firearms, ammunition, archery, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, camping and related products and services”. The SHOT Show attracts visitors from more than 100 countries. This year there were nearly 60,000 attendees, and 2,000 exhibitors. There were some pretty impressive weapons on display, like the ArmaLite AR-10, and there was quite a buzz over long-distance target illumination, a brilliant notion if you want to see your moose in the dark…
