Lexington: COAL Prep

April 30 – May 2, 2013. Coal Prep claims to be the only annual trade show and conference in the U.S. dedicated to coal preparation and processing. Industry professionals came from all over the world to share the latest ideas and techniques on coal preparation and processing technologies. Commercially-minded delegates were there to purchase and preview the latest equipment and services, view to increasing plant productivity and reducing costs.  Coal industry professionals were presented with a conference programmed by a dedicated Technical Program Committee made up of operators and industry leaders.  High on everyone’s agenda was talk about re-positioning coal as a valid fuel for the future, despite its increasingly beleaguered reputation as a “dirty fuel” that contributes to global warming and other ills.  Ranged against the “clean coal” aficionados were a few refuseniks who seemed to think that “clean coal” was a concept about as logical as “dehydrated water”….

Atlanta: NPGA

Apr. 14-16, 2012. The PG in NPGA stands for Propane Gas, and visitors to this show apparently came to “honor the past, succeed in the present, and embark on the future”…, probably in that order.  The Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo is the largest tradeshow in North America featuring propane-related equipment, supplies, products and services. In 2012, the propane industry has been celebrating its centennial anniversary, and the National Propane Gas Association commemorated this major milestone with a number of events, including a Clean Air Rally, a Centennial Reception, a visit to the Propane Centennial Museum, and of course the Centennial Celebration Raffle… all of which made this gathering quite a gas.  Hey, did you know that Washington’s troops at Valley Forge survived thanks to Propane Gas?  Actually we just made that up.

Long Beach: Renewable Energy Conference

Feb. 14-16, 2012. To give the show its full title, it is the Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo of North America.  One of the only all-renewable shows in the country, and co-located with Solar POWER-GEN, offered  the latest information, solutions and technologies in renewable energy.  Attendees included Power Generating Utilities, Independent Power Producers, Municipal Utilities and Cooperatives, Local, State and Federal Government, Energy Advisory and Planning Agencies, Research and Training Institutions and some Large Energy Users, not to mention manufacturers, consultants and Renewable Energy Architects, Engineers and Construction Representatives…. all there to “renew” their acquaintance…
