Las Vegas – SEMA 2015 – Automotive Week 2015

The SEMA Show, we were told, is pretty much the biggest automotive specialty products trade event in the world. This year like others, it apparently drew the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to the Las Vegas Convention Center. As part of the AAIW, the SEMA Show attracts more than 100,000 industry leaders from more than 100 countries, all searching for profit opportunities in the automotive, truck and SUV, powersports, and RV markets. SEMA Show drew big numbers of both domestic and international buyers. The displays were segmented into twelve sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 2,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA Show provided attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations and special events. Delegates were reminded frequently that being there would put them “ahead of the curve”… So that explains some of the curvy-type people manning the booths… #sema2015

Las Vegas – PMMI – PackExpo 2015

Founded in 1933, PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, is a trade association made up of more than 700 member companies that manufacture packaging, processing and packaging-related converting machinery, commercially-available packaging machinery components, containers and materials, all across NAFTA markets the United States, Canada and Mexico. PMMI claims to be the leading global resource for processing and packaging issues. Its mission is to improve and promote its members’ success in a global packaging marketplace, and PMMI members are the industry-leading solutions providers in the processing and packaging supply chain. If all that sounds overly serious, remember the PMMI Foundation Golf Tournament at the Bali Hai Golf Club, Las Vegas, which raised $40,000 in support of education. You see this tube of golf balls? Nice packaging…

Las Vegas Trade Shows: International Parking Institute #IPI2015

IPI is the International Parking Institute, and the IPI Conference & Expo is the world’s largest educational and networking event for parking and transportation professionals. Thousands of attendees gathered for four days of meetings, keynotes, leadership discussions, networking, awards, special events, tours of parking facilities — the definition of a thrill? You haven’t lived till you’ve experienced one of these tours of parking facilities — and an exhibit hall with more than 250 exhibitors. A revolution is driving the parking industry thanks to new approaches in the design, management, and operation of public and private parking. Smarter approaches to parking can improve urban mobility, reduce congestion and enhance sustainability. Government officials, architects, urban planners, transportation officials, suppliers, consultants, and economic decision-makers were all there to feed their magnetic tickets into the slot. Hey, sir, excuse me… sir… sir? You cannot park there… #IPI2015

Las Vegas: National Association of Broadcasters – NAB2015

The media and entertainment industry, we heard, just got itself “unleashed”. Dynamic innovation and cutting-edge technologies were shattering content boundaries and opening up opportunities, since NABShow was apparently the place to break free from conventional thinking and open everyone’s minds. Attendees representing every sector of the industry including Broadcast, Digital Media, Film, Entertainment, Telecom, Post-Production, Academia, Houses of Worship (really!) , Advertising, Military, Government, Retail, Security, Sports, Live Events, Online Video, IT, Virtual and Augmented Reality all converged on Las Vegas to embrace the immersive experiences reshaping the new reality of media. The show organizers were there to insist that “This Changes Everything”, and they were piling on the innovative attractions to prove it. Hey, may I say you’re looking particularly unleashed today…. #NABShow

Las Vegas: Travel Goods Show

The Travel Goods Show was sold out, maxed out, and an enormous success, we heard. Nearly 300 exhibitors – 44 more than last year – displayed more than 500 brands. This is very definitely an industry that’s on the move. The Show was up 75% in floor space and up 50% in the number of exhibitors, offering travelling kits, travelling accessories, travelling experiences and essentials.  The expo was more global than ever, with 77 international exhibitors, up from 44 in 2014. The event presented everything that might be an urgency or a necessity for every traveler.  This event has emerged as a place where business connections are developed.  Travel goods are defined as luggage, backpacks, travel/sports bags, business cases/computer bags, handbags, personal leather goods, and luggage locks.  The Travel Goods Show is an example of a show for which you have to pack luggage in order to go look at… luggage.

Las Vegas: World of Concrete

Las Vegas: World of Concrete

We love the idea of a “World of Concrete”, the show title conjuring up mental images of whole vast landscapes made from sand and cement, with concrete trees interspersed between the concrete buildings….  But seriously, 674,000+ net square feet of indoor & outdoor exhibit space and over 1,400 exhibitors make WOC a pretty serious affair, the industry’s only annual international event designed specifically for commercial concrete and masonry professionals.  The outdoor exhibit areas alone, including the popular Artistry in Decorative Concrete, make this expo worth the visit.  Targeted areas of the show floor focused on areas of the industry such as the Producer Center, Technology for Construction, WOC General and Material Handling, World of Masonry, Concrete Repair & Demolition, Surfaces & Decorative, WOC General, and Outdoor.  Delegates could see, touch and test the latest products under real-world jobsite conditions.  All in all there were some pretty “concrete advantages” in attending….  #WOC2015
