Beyond The Booth: MaximuM Comics Supports Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation

Month of August -
MaximuM Comics Charity of the Month

At Beyond-the-Booth we are all about the #ShopLocal movement and in total support of the “Mom/Pop” shops that are slowly being replaced by big box stores and national chains. So when one of them has a GREAT event that supports the community, we like to send out B-t-B kudos! See the next post for their SuperPets contest this past Saturday

Celebrate American Independence Day: Shop Local

We at Beyond the Booth would like to wish everyone a safe & happy July 4th holiday. I mean there is nothing like having 2 Fridays in 1 week. On the day we celebrate the severing of our ties to the mother ship er country, it is time to actually do something that is positive for your local community. When you have a choice between some big impersonal box store or a locally owned business, think of them 1st. Most all of us know of some mom & pop business. They could be anything from a fruit stand or a food truck or a craft bazaar at the local community center. Shopping local not only keeps the $ into the community, small business are more likely to hire locally and much more likely to contribute to locally based charities. Hey – I bet most places can find a locally made BBQ sauce for the burgers and here in Las Vegas? We have our own Vodka. and popcorn. and chips. Look around and find where you can support your community by giving your local businesses a try.

Have a very safe, sane & happy 4th of July.

Las Vegas: NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) 2012

National Fire Prevention Association trade show for public, private & volunteer fire safety. Highlight of the event? #Sparky the fire dog.

Las Vegas: HD Expo

May 15-17, 2012. HD Expo is not really about High Definition TV (at least only tangentially), since in this case it stands for Hospitality Design Expo and Conference.  Billed as the center of design and innovation, HD Expo is positioned as the premier trade show for the hospitality design industry, bringing together over 900 exhibitors and more than 7,000 attendees. Presented by Hospitality Design magazine, the show is at the forefront of offering the newest and most innovative products and services in hotel design.  Just how innovative?  A typical exhibitor was there to show off a new chair and 5 ottomans. The chair and some of the ottomans were circular from a plan view perspective. Other ottomans in the collection were convex, thus allowing for linking the seating into shapes that could divide or enclose spaces.  The search is now on for circular and convex people to sit on them…

Vegas: Springtime at the Bellagio Conservatory

Despite what the visitors think we actually have 2: Hot & Not that hot. Thankfully we have beautiful hotels such as the Bellagio owned by MGM to remind those of us who moved here from “greener” pastures how beautiful Spring can be. Thanks to Loopy who took the time to capture these fabulous pictures for us.

BTW: The Bellagio on the site of the old Dunes hotel. It was built by Steve Wynn as reminder of his days of traveling in the Lake Como region of Italy. Complete with ornate marble & Renaissance style statuary, the centerpiece of this hotel is the Conservatory. Several times per year, a unique themed display is rolled out to be enjoyed by guests and locals alike. Bellagio also has one of the largest fountain displays this side of Rome with water going off from 3pm until Midnight each with a different mix of music from country/western to pop to opera.

It is “not to be missed” place for those who want a break from gambling but if you want to do that also, Bellagio can accommodate that as well.
