Chicago: LMT Lab Day Chicago

LMT Lab Day Chicago bills itself as the largest dental laboratory community gathering in America.  There were over 3,200 laboratory owners, managers and technicians attendees,  comparison shopping with over 230 exhibitors, two full days of education featuring more than 300 clinics, and access to the industry’s top 150 educators in the dental field.  It was the biggest Lab Day yet. Just over 3,500 attendees came to the industry’s busiest, most exciting event of the year, to learn at 367 educational courses, shop an energy-packed exhibit hall with 241 companies, and network and catch up with their peers.  There was more room for education and a spacious new exhibit hall that featured wider walking aisles, an attendee café and a green park-like area that featured benches where attendees could meet and recharge.  Something for everyone to “sink their teeth” into….

New York City: Greater New York Dental Meeting – GNYDM

This is one of the largest dental congresses in the world, hosting over 50,000 health care professionals at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and  featuring over 1,500 technical exhibits which demonstrated the newest technology for the dental profession.  There was a high-powered educational program pulled together for 2014, featuring some of the most highly regarded educators in the field of dentistry. There was a choice of full-day seminars, half-day seminars, essays, hands-on glass-enclosed workshops, and a Live Patient Demonstration Area that was sure to fascinate even the most discriminating dentist and his/her staff.  On offer was an expanded Implant Expo, a collection of inspiring seminars and workshops to attract specialists who offer surgical and restorative dental implant treatment to their patients, as well as for the general dentist who incorporates implant tooth replacement in his/her office.  The whole thing was co-hosted with  the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.  Smile!  You’re on implant camera!  #Dental Congress

Boston: American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual – AAPD

AAPD?  Good guess, people, but no — the initials do not stand for the Ann Arbor Police Department, but the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  So we’re talking about kids’ teeth, not law enforcement in Michigan, okay?  Just getting that little misconception cleared up….  This year’s AAPD scientific program delivered cutting-edge topics, including a preconference program titled “2014 Pediatric Medicine Update,” and featuring faculty from Boston’s Children’s Hospital/Harvard University.  New this year was an Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) area, with new dental techniques in… um… “evidence”.  The AAPD also provided a “Meet and Greet Mentor Lounge” for new dentists and residents;  so Mentors and Mentees had an opportunity to discuss things.  Wait… mentees?  What are “mentees”, exactly?  Is that like “manatees”?  And what do manatees’ teeth look like, anyway…?  #aapd2014

New York City: Greater New York Dental Meeting – GNYDM

GNYDM is the Greater New York Dental Meeting.  This meet is billed as the largest dental convention in the United States.  GNYDM attracted over 54,000 attendees from all 50 states and 130 foreign countries, so the turnout was something like 20,000 dentists.  There were over 1500 Technical Exhibits, demonstrating the newest technology for the dental profession, for instance a greatly expanded Implant Expo.  The educational program featured some of the most highly regarded educators in the field of dentistry. There was a choice of full-day seminars, half-day seminars, essays, hands-on workshops, glass-enclosed demos, and a Live Patient Demonstration Area which offered a sense of immediacy to even the most jaded dentist and staff.  Attendees could interact with over 600 exhibitors who enhanced the meeting, all there to demonstrate and teach delegates about new products and technology from around the world.  Visitors could touch, use and compare the newest materials and technologies used in dentistry today.  Quite a lot to get your teeth into…   #GNYDM

There was a choice of full-day seminars, half-day seminars, essays, hands-on workshops, glass-enclosed and Live Patient Demonstration Area.  Booth teams were there in force to demonstrate and teach visitors about new products and technology from around the world. They could  touch, use and compare the newest materials and technology in dentistry today.  Everyone said they attended the speeches to learn something;  but actually they were just checking out the speakers’ caps and bridgework…

San Diego: AAPD

May 24-27, 2012. The AAPD is the membership organization representing the healthcare specialty of Pediatric Dentistry. The Association’s 7,800 members serve as primary dental care providers for millions of children from infancy through adolescence.  Delegates could visit the AAPD Bookstore to pick up a copy of the Coding Manual, the new Pediatric Dentistry Handbook, or a souvenir from this year’s Annual Session.  (What kind of souvenirs appeal to dentists?). Many visitors spent some time in The Healthy Smiles, the Healthy Children Donor Lounge, to learn more about access to Care Grants, or to make a donation or increase their pledges to the Foundation. Who said a “trip to the dentists” wasn’t fun?  You want the souvenir tooth-mug?
