Las Vegas: Travel Goods Show

The Travel Goods Show was sold out, maxed out, and an enormous success, we heard. Nearly 300 exhibitors – 44 more than last year – displayed more than 500 brands. This is very definitely an industry that’s on the move. The Show was up 75% in floor space and up 50% in the number of exhibitors, offering travelling kits, travelling accessories, travelling experiences and essentials.  The expo was more global than ever, with 77 international exhibitors, up from 44 in 2014. The event presented everything that might be an urgency or a necessity for every traveler.  This event has emerged as a place where business connections are developed.  Travel goods are defined as luggage, backpacks, travel/sports bags, business cases/computer bags, handbags, personal leather goods, and luggage locks.  The Travel Goods Show is an example of a show for which you have to pack luggage in order to go look at… luggage.

Las Vegas: WPPI – Wedding & Portrait Photographers Int’l

WPPI stands for Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, and Las Vegas is the logical place to hold it.  Where else can you get wedding photos showing couples tying the knot in chapels where Elvis impersonators officiate?  Wedding Photographers International was founded in the 1970’s and provided a much-needed forum for photographers who had long asked for guidance, and an association of their own.  In 2013, WPPI became part of the Professional Photo Group, which includes PDN, Rangefinder, PhotoServe, PhotoSource, IPN, PhotoPlus and Outdoor Photo Expo.  This group covers all platforms for professional photographers, including conferences and trade shows, contests and competitions, social networking, trade publications and more.  Realizing that many of WPI’s present and future members were involved in both wedding and portrait photography, Wedding Photographers International officially became Wedding & Portrait Photographers International in 1995. And they have photos to prove it…  #WPPI2015

Las Vegas: International Franchise Association Annual Convention – IFA

Buying a franchise can be an investment in the future, but as with any major decision, the prospective franchisee needs to thoroughly research the franchise industry, the franchise model and the pros and cons of owning a franchise.  Franchising, we were told, means going into business for yourself, but not by yourself. IFA is the International Franchise Association Annual Convention.  Celebrating 55 years of excellence, education and advocacy, the IFA is the world’s oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide.  There are, we heard, more than 780,000 franchise establishments that support nearly 8.9 million direct jobs, $890 billion of economic output for the US economy and 3 percent of the Gross Domestic Product.  IFA members include franchise companies in over 300 different business format categories, individual franchisees and companies that support the industry in marketing, law, technology and business development.  You’re doing this for yourself, right…?  #IFA2015

Las Vegas: ABS Vegas – Capital Markets Conference

The ABS Vegas Capital Markets Conference has two enablers behind it.  SFIG and IMN both said they were “excited” to once again co-host “the largest capital markets conference in the world”, ABS Vegas 2015. The three-and-a-half day program was developed by leaders within the structured finance industry, representing the full spectrum of industry participants including investors, issuers, financial intermediaries, regulators, law firms, accounting offices,  technology firms, rating agencies, servicers and trustees.  Session topics included The Investor and Issuer Fireside Chat: The Impact of Regulation on Issuance Volume and Investor Appetite;  Revitalizing the PLS RMBS Market: 3.0 Overview; Single Family Rental Securitization;  Relative Value in the CLO Market: Investor Perspectives;  Regulation AB II Implementation: Lessons for the CMBS Industry;  and Trend Watch: Innovations in Marketplace Lending.  There were dynamic panel discussions on the most relevant topics and challenges relating to the securitization industry.  Main conclusion?  “It’s only money…”
