Atlantic City: ABE 2012

Mar. 18-19, 2012. ABE?  It stands for Atlantic Bakery Expo, and it’s presented by the New Jersey Bakers Board of Trade and the New York State Association of Manufacturing Retail Bakers.  Even while signing up online, delegates could almost smell the fresh donuts, cookies and breads baking…  The show laid on a complete educational program with demonstrations, seminars and hands-on classes to go along with a trade show floor packed with exhibitors. There were deli, cheese, prepared foods and salty snacks sessions, even highly-focused seminars on things like “Understanding turkey from raw material to finished product and its applications in the deli area” and “Using value-added options to increase the bottom line”.  These people were definitely talking turkey….

Las Vegas: NCB 2012

Mar. 12-15, 2012. NCB?  It stands for Night Club and Bar Convention and Trade Show, and it’s a natural fit for Vegas.  It claims to be by far the best bar, nightclub and beverage trade show for bar and nightclub owners, operators, bartenders and other professionals in the industry. Attendees found the tools they needed to better serve their customers and grow their business. There were cocktail-fuelled networking opportunities, a program of educational experiences, and a high-energy show floor — or was that floor-show?  Delegates were wowed by barista displays involving the high-powered juggling of cocktail shakers, not to mention techniques for filling 36 cocktail glasses with a single pour.  Cheers!
