Timing is everything that applies to most all industries but especially here in Vegas. We have what is called Hospitality Week this week and it covers 4 trade shows including Hotel World. To coincide with this opening, the newest hotel in Las Vegas also opened to the public on Sunday night at 10pm. However the ‘trade’ was invited to come to a reception and tour at 6pm and seeing as I have a friend who is the manager of one of the major resorts here, I was invited to go along.
The hotel is beautiful with a rooftop lounge that gives a 360 view of the valley. It’s very chic and modern with some unusual touches like free soda dispensers, slot machines that pay out in gem stones like rubies and diamonds, and a very sleek interior.
However, and it’s a big one, it is located about 15 miles south of the main part of the strip, which really limits this to locals and/or the drive ins from Cali who want just a little more than the blue collar state line.
Here are some pics that I snapped while there:

and finally because I am a “phat” girl.. some of their signature desserts they served at the pre-opening cocktail reception:

One other note: Since it is Hospitality week, the hotel rented some of those monster hummer limos to arrive at the various hotels that are housing the attendees of the Expo. Included in the expo package was admission to some of the hottest nightspots in Vegas. These 8 hummer stretches rolled up to grab whoever wanted to go. Turns out — no one wanted to leave the localized strip area to schlep down 15 miles and be a captured audience. Once my VIP friend heard this, he immediately got on the horn, called up his own set of limos and proceeded to go around to the various venues, picking up those who were left behind. Guerrilla marketing at it’s finest!!
