San Francisco: American College of Sports Medicine

May 29 – Jun. 2, 2012, ACSM?  It stands for the American College of Sports Medicine.  This is a complex field, as evidenced by some of the sessions on offer.  Things like Control on Cellular Metabolism — Role of the Sirtuins in Health and Disease, Skeletal Muscle Myokines in Exercise and Health, Treating Spinal Cord Injuries — Translating Basic Science To the Clinic, and Exercise; and then there was Free Radicals — Impact on Muscle Function and Adaptation.  Basic Science Day featured prominent speakers presenting on special basic science topics, provide additional information and showcasing the top basic science posters presented at this year’s meeting.  Keynoters also recognized great contributions to the field of sports medicine and exercise science.  Hey, yoga doc, can you get me out of this lotus position without surgery?
