Baltimore: Electric Power Expo

May 15-17, 2012. In today’s lean economy, travel and education budgets are being cut. Yet, we heard, there is still a need for employee training. The education on offer at the Electric Power Conference & Exhibition was wide-ranging. Industry leaders were there to keep delegates up-to-date with the hottest industry topics, such as renewables, nuclear, gas turbine combined cycle power plants, coal and solid fuel, and more.  Utilities have been looking to add renewable energy sources to their generation portfolio as the demand for clean energy increases. Starting as a minor contributor a few years ago, renewable energy sources such as wind power, solar PV, solar thermal (CSP), and biomass have all moved mainstream, and are growing sources of new power generation.  Now if only they could connect the grid to all the hot air coming out of Washington DC….
