Washington DC: GovGreen

Nov. 30 – Dec. 01, 2011. This conference and exposition is where “Government Professionals Find Green Solutions”, in areas as diverse as energy, transportation, conservation, facilities and spinach soup.  Actually we made that last one up.  Attendance was free for government and military professionals, who could “gain a valuable overview of the sustainability requirements mandated for every agency and program”, not to mention “learning best practice from successful green leaders across civilian and military agencies as well as the private sector”.  Washington was just the place for this since, surprisingly, it’s “where 70% of all federal government and military executives work”.  Green leaders?  They’re the ones eating the spinach soup.

Wisconsin Dells: MWFPA

Nov. 29 – Dec. 1, 2011. The Midwest Food Processors Association (MWFPA) have a Mission Statement: it is “to enhance and promote the business interests of the Midwest food processing industry, to be the foremost recognizable legislative voice in the three-state area espousing the objectives and concerns of the food/vegetable processing industry, involve members in association activities, and promote activities which assure the safety, quality, and nutrition of our member’s products”.  Today the association “represents a more diverse group of food processors on a variety of food issues.  The primary role of MWFPA is to influence public policy and make the Midwest a great place for food processors to do business”.  The association’s activities can apparently be summarized in four words; advocate, educate, communicate, and facilitate.  And all that before lunch!

Phoenix: NAILBA

Nov. 17-29, 2011. The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies’ (NAILBA) 30th Annual Meeting, was hailed as a success by exhibitors and attendees.  The event attracted 1,348 attendees,  an increase over last year’s registrations. NAILBA 30 also welcomed 97 exhibiting companies in 120 booths. The independent wholesale insurance brokerage industry’s premier event, NAILBA 30 featured education and networking opportunities for this specialized community.  “One of NAILBA’s great strengths is relationships,” noted NAILBA Chairman Christi Daughenbaugh. In her address at the Opening General Session on Thursday, Daughenbaugh shared the association’s newly adopted statement of purpose, which is to “serve as the national association of life, health and annuity insurance distributors.”  So your policy is already in force.
